There’s A Lost Boys Musical Being Developed, Because Why Not?

[ad_1]

Musical adaptations of books, television shows, and even movies are hardly anything new. Broadway is going back in time with a Back to the Future musical and it’s probably only a matter of time before we get a Die Hard adaptation…oh wait. That’s already a thing. So it should come as no surprise that a musical based on the 1987 cult classic vampire The Lost Boys is officially in production.

Deadline is reporting that Patrick Wilson, James Carpinello, and Marcus Chait (Million Dollar Baby) are on board to adapt with a book by Michael Arden, David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and Broadway actor Chris Hoch.

Music will be by pop-rock band The Rescues with Ethan Popp (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) serving as Music Supervisor.

Casting and a production timeline were not announced. Joel Schumacher directed the original The Lost Boys movie that focused on two brothers who move to a new town and discover that the area is a nest for vampires. The film spawned two direct-to-video sequels and two comic book series. There was a third sequel announced back in 2021, but nothing has materialized from that so far.

The musical will also be produced by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, so it could feature some of the original film’s score by Thomas Newman.
