A Pokemon fan has depicted a terrifying version of the Mewtwo from Cerulean Cave in a unique piece of artwork. As the central Legendary in Pokemon Gen 1, Mewtwo has become a fan favorite of many players, but this interpretation of the Pokemon may give some of them chills.

Since Pokemon Red and Blue were released, the franchise has been successful. As a result, many fans still claim Gen 1 Pokemon as their favorites, including Charmander, Pikachu, and Squirtle. Among the early favorites is Mewtwo, one of the last Pokemon players would encounter in a playthrough. Gamers would first have to defeat all the Kanto gym leaders and complete the Pokemon League challenge before they can get to Mewtwo. In Pokemon Gen 1, Mewtwo is found in the Cerulean Cave, and this fan has imagined an alternative look for the Pokemon in its natural setting.

Pokemon GO Confirms January 6 Community Day Pokemon

Pokemon GO developer Niantic reveals the featured Pokemon for 2024’s first Community Day event, which will be held for a short duration on January 6.

Reddit user BonesAndBlues recently shared fan art named after Pokemon‘s Cerulean Cave. The Cerulean Cave is fittingly located in Cerulean City, the home of Misty’s gym. The art depicts Pokemon Red and Blue protagonist Red alongside a Raichu that’s charging an Electric-type attack. Mewtwo seems to emerge from the dark depths of the cave, and it doesn’t resemble the Pokemon that was added to Super Smash Bros. Unlike the purple and pink Mewtwo, this one is just blue, and it has completely black eyes. The art highlights this Mewtwo as significantly less smooth than the original, and its bone structure can be seen through its blue skin.

The Legendary Pokemon retains its three fingers and a long tail, but due to the changes, it resembles an alien. This is further emphasized by its crawling position, as the standard Mewtwo normally walks on two feet or levitates using Psychic-type abilities. Just as Gen 1 fans would be anxious to catch Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave, Red is prepared for an encounter and is holding what appears to be the Master Ball. In the official lore, Mewtwo is an artificial Pokemon created by Giovanni and engineers working for Team Rocket. The Pokemon antagonist was attempting to recreate Mew, the original Mythical Pokemon. While Mewtwo has appeared in many games since Gen 1, this version of the Pokemon is the most plot-relevant one.

Although Mewtwo got a Mega Evolution in Pokemon Gen 7, BonesAndBlues’ version may top them all as the most terrifying. Given that kids have been a prominent Pokemon audience since the beginning, Mewtwo may have scared some trainers away from Cerulean Cave if it looked like this.
